Holiday Happenings in Downtown New Haven

The holidays in New Haven officially kicked off on December 1 with a beautiful tree lighting on the Green! NBC Connecticut was the official sponsor and welcomed the public to enjoy live entertainment from local school choirs, visits with Santa and much more. 

* Here is a list of some of the many holiday happenings continuing throughout the season

Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides:

FREE Horse Drawn Carriage Rides on Saturdays and Sundays in December from 12pm-4pm.On December 3, 10 and 17, enjoy rides around the New Haven Green at the Winter Festival on the Green and on December 4, 11 and 18, board the carriage at the corner of Temple St. and Chapel St. or at the corner of York St. and Elm St.

Winter Festival on the Green:

Stop by the New Haven Green every Saturday leading up to Christmas from 12pm-4pm for visits with Santa, FREE carousel and Ferris wheel rides and don’t miss the Petting Zoo sponsored by Town Green District!

Complimentary Ornaments:

Town Green District partnered with the Shops at Yale to bring back the popular complimentary holiday ornaments. Look for 8 festive pine trees on Chapel Street and help yourself to a snowflake ornament with a scene from winter carriage rides on the New Haven Green from Winter’s past. Listen to downtown carolers on Chapel and Broadway throughout the weekend as you take in the sights and sounds of the City.

Festive Thursdays:

Join us every Thursday in December from 4pm-8pm in front of our INFO New Haven Visitor Center (1000 Chapel St.) for our free popcorn and cider hospitality station.
