Town Green has partnered with the City of New Haven to create and expand a “Digital Eye” presence in downtown. In 2014, Town Green placed 4 new surveillance cameras at key intersections in the district. Partnering with the City ensures all feeds get sent to the City and the New Haven Police Department for review. The intent is to also work with partners who also have cameras. Bright signs underneath each camera draw attention to its presence. Signage is crucial, alerting the public that we’re monitoring the district to increase safety. In 2015, the program expanded to include new 360-degree security cameras at two key intersections. The security camera feeds directly to the New Haven Police Department for their use. The cameras include a sidewalk monitor display and viewing station at the Downtown Community Alliance office.
