What’s New? Midpoint Instabul

Yale University Properties hosted a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 1:30pm to welcome Midpoint Istanbul to The Shops at Yale in downtown New Haven. The ceremony took place at 245 Crown Street. Mayor Toni N. Harp joined in the festivities.

Midpoint Istanbul is a modern Mediterranean restaurant serving many unique dishes such as Piyaz Salad and Hunkar Begendi Veggie, both popular Turkish recipes dating back to the Ottoman Empire.

Owner, Jack Donmez, used the word “Midpoint” in his restaurant’s name as Istanbul is located at the intersection of Europe & Asia and Donmez will assert that Istanbul has always been known for having one of the most diverse food cultures in the world. “Many nations made of hundreds of different ethnicities have traveled through this iconic city and have left their favorite recipes to flourish in Istanbul. We have created our menu by selecting the most delicious dishes from each corner of Istanbul.” said Donmez. He adds “Our mission is to serve the highest quality food prepared by expert chefs while providing a fine dining experience.”

Midpoint Istanbul is open for lunch and dinner, Sunday through Friday, 11:00am-11:00pm and Saturday, 11:00am-midnight.

“We are delighted to continue to welcome local, Connecticut-based entrepreneurs to The Shops at Yale,” said Lauren Zucker, Yale University Associate Vice President for New Haven Affairs and University Properties. “Yale University’s community investment program supports the growth of New Haven businesses, creating jobs, reinvigorating New Haven’s downtown, and expanding the city’s tax base.”
