"terrasse" outdoor dining
In partnership with The City of New Haven’s Department of Transportation, Traffic & Parking, Town Green District creates opportunities for all eligible downtown restaurants to join the Terrasse program. These custom seating areas enhance dining experiences providing al fresco options and beautifies streetscapes.

Big Belly solar trash bins
Since the programs inception in 2015 as a pilot program in partnership with The City of New Haven’s Department of Transportation, Traffic & Parking, Town Green District has introduced 47 efficient Big Belly solar trash compactors to the Downtown. Wrapped in graffiti-resistant designs of our city, each unit dedicates its side panels to advertising from only local NHV restaurants, retail and beyond.
A new feature includes WIFI-enabled bins made possible by a grant from the Elm City Innovative Collaborative. Town Green has installed these in both Temple Plaza and Pitkin Plaza, offering the public free WIFI service from dawn to dusk.
With Town Green's wayfinding efforts, you're less likely to lose your way than ever.
Strategically placed throughout the city, Wayfinders help visitors locate downtown New Haven's popular destinations.
Our wayfinding efforts include arrow ground signage to and from Downtown and both Union Station & State Street Station, 8 wrapped traffic control boxes with maps, and identifying park signage.

Ambassadors work on special improvement projects throughout Downtown, repainting all chipped and weathered poles and fire hydrants, fixing sidewalk trip hazards, and identifying slip hazards and correcting them.
Staff regularly assess Downtown lighting, ensuring storefronts, streetlights, and façade lighting creates a safe and inviting environment at all times of day or night.
For anything we are unable to fix, Town Green writes official reports to City departments.
Town Green invites more festivity to Downtown with holiday decor throughout the year. Decorations range from wrapped streetlight poles and globes to a 15 foot lit snowflake at the College Street and Chapel Street intersection.
Our Ambassadors treat shoppers to complimentary mulled cider and popcorn on Chapel Street in the colder months.
